Hickman Creek

I had the chance to explore a new stretch of Hickman Creek this morning.  Great company with my friends Derrick and Jeff, we were fishing by about 6:30am.  Here's a map to the put-in.

It was amazing how different the "feel" of the creek was here.  The water was fairly shallow and there was a flat rock bed lining most sections of the creek.  Little tree cover and the water was really clear.  We had the best luck with the small crawdad crank baits.  Each of us caught at least five these little rock bass (shown above)....but nothing bigger...some even smaller!

I caught my first fish using a jig.  I dropped it down into one of the few deeper sections of the creek and caught one on the rocks.  It sure was beautiful out!
