Catching Up

I tagged along with Jon and one of his friends to paddle, camp and fish the Middle Red River.  We had some difficulty finding a good campsite along the bank.  Finally found one, but none of the trees were spaced well for a hammock.  I ended up spotting the setup below a few minutes before we went to sleep.  I was able to rig it so my body stayed off the ground, a definite plus.  Things really cooled down over night so I got  up several times to heat water, pour it into a Nalgene and stuff it down into my sleeping bag to keep warm.  I'm glad someone had shared this idea with me.  It made all the difference in getting some sleep.

Last weekend, Daniel and I took Neil out on Beaver Lake.  Neil had never fished out of a kayak before so it was fun to experience it with him.  I think he'll be back.  We each caught about 4 and had tons of bites.

It's some good fishing out on Beaver Lake these days!

Daniel had a HUGE fish on that broke the line!  I had the camera handy.  The fish was actually pulling him around the lake, so we know it was a big one.  I just with this video ended with us pulling a fish out of the water...

Since the fishing was so good.  I returned to Beaver Lake this past Friday morning.  My first catch of the day was this monster....caught him in the trees.  He was a heck of a fight!

My view for morning coffee on the burner
