I was prepared to go by myself before Roy and Daniel joined me for fishing out at Beaver Lake on Saturday. The weather was perfect...about 70 degrees.
At a few points the sky looked like we were going to get rained on but it always passed over. As it turns out, my body got quite a bit of sun and my arms are very red today. But, I have no regrets. As we paddled we looked at the cabins on the bank of the lake.
The fishing was excellent! I caught about 4 smallies. 3 of them came on consecutive casts. I also pulled 2 largemouth up to the kayak and both spit the hook before I could pull them in. That's unfortunate because they would have been the bigger catches. All the bites were on purple worm as I worked the banks.
The fish finder was helpful in guaging the water depth. As we were heading back I passed over tree that continued down under the water and the finder detected lots of fish. I ended up getting a bite. It was cool because I wouldn't have normally even stopped to fish a section like this but the finder tipped me off to it! Look out fish...technology is on my side!
